Monday Update

posted by HarleyRider

I must say I am overwhelmed by the turnouts we have been having at our rides.  Last Monday we had 17 bikes show up which included a couple of guests from Willingdon MB church, a colleague of Brian’s and a new couple (Doug and Michelle Fisher) that are from the church and new to the group………….WOW!  It has been so cool to see people connecting and just plain enjoying the time together.  We did have a minor incident involving an animal of a feline persuasion, but riders were safe and that is what was most important.  Thank you to everyone for your commitment to the group and I am looking forward to more rides together this summer.  (That is assuming that summer is going to show itself soon! :-) )  FYI, there has been a suggestion put forth that we try to have a BBQ in early September that would involve an invite to local churches and their members who ride in order to create some connection to them.  Details regarding this will be forth coming so keep an eye on your e-mails regarding this.

So until we meet again, “Keep the rubber on the road and the wind in your face”

Sold My Bike

posted by Eric

Well I finally sold my bike :( I have these weird mixed feelings about it. I have no idea how someone gets attached to a bike, it does not make sense that it is sad to see it go. Anyway, I will have my new ride within the next couple of weeks. I am looking at getting a Yamaha FZ1; sweet ride.

I missed the ride Monday night and I will probably miss the Mt. Baker ride. Look forward to riding with you all again real soon.

Regards, Eric

Harley Dual Sport Bike

Here is one for you “brothers of the push rod”
I know you will like it and most likely so will the
rest of us…
It reminds me of a time on my 67 Honda 305 SuperHawk when I was desperately trying to elude a swarm of angry bees….
It seems as though “some one” had thrown a rock into
the entrance of a bee tree and they had come out to thank him.  *g*

Cheered Up

posted by jill

I was just sitting here, feeling a little bummed about my bike being in the shop and you lovely people very much cheered me up.

Many of you have heard that I had a bit of a wipe out this past week – thank you so much for your concern! I was coming back from Kamloops, just through Manning Park (which was so cold – piled snow and sand – and I was so careful!) and into Hope. I came down an off-ramp into Hope with a downhill curve and saw too late that my lane position had fine sand all over it. The bike spit me off and that was that – I am fine – mildly separated ac (that’s a shoulder thing I’m told) and some interesting bruises – but I got back on and made it to Abbotsford before the bike died. It is now being assessed by Imperial to see if ICBC will fix it for me. Don’t worry – I am still very much keen to ride (I think my folks think I must have hit my head) and I will be back out there with you as soon as I can get my scoot upright again.

User Passwords

posted by Eric

A few people in our group have had issues logging into the site. If this is the case for you send me an email and I will send you a new temporary password and I will try to log into your account to confirm it is working. Remember that your user name and password are case sensitive. Some of you are using capitol letters for your user name, which is a good thing; (complex passwords are encouraged as well) however you have to use the exact spelling and case when logging in.

I have just finished testing the creation of new users as well as resetting the passwords. Both worked for me, so I am not sure the exact reason for the log-in troubles. I do want to stay on top of any issues that may arise and encourage everyone in the group to post motorcycle related material.

Post a comment and I will update your password.

Monday June 02 Meeting

posted by HarleyRider

Greetings fellow riders,

Monday June 02 is scheduled to be our next group meeting.  I am going to mix things up a bit and head out for a ride first thing.  We will head to Langley where we will spend some time watching the Gold Wing Drill Team practise.  After that we will head to a local coffee shop where we will take care of any montly business….like getting ride leaders.  We will be meeting at the church as per the schedule, just please be sure to be early and fully fueled as we will be leaving right at 7:00 Pm.  This should be a great experiance and if any of you have not seen the Drill Team doing their demonstration, you will be in for a real treat.  These guys all ride large bikes and they can manouver them like scooters.  Hope to see as many out as possible for this ride.

Chuckanut Ride

posted by HarleyRider

I have not had a chance yet to update about our past weekend ride so better late than never I guess. What an amazing day we all had. The border lineup was a bit longer than anticipated, but we all made it through without incident and met up with Paul and Ruthanne in Bellingham around 9:10 Am. From there it was a quick hop down the freeway to the Chuckanut road. This road is unbelievably beautiful with the tree branches growing across that create a beautiful canopy. Traffic was light but we did get behind a van near the end that kept us slower than we would have liked given all the twists and turns.  It did however allow us to take in the sheer beauty of the area. From there we took the back roads to Highway 20 where we connected up and rode the highway through Deception Pass. After a short break at the bridge we were off to Oak Harbour for lunch. We came back on Highway 20 to Sedro Wolley and up highway 9 to the Sumas border. Traffic was extremely light on highway 9 so we were totally uninterrupted while enjoying some smooth sweeping turns home. The day ended with Paul and Ruthanne taking the group out for drinks at the local Starbucks in Abbotsford. Thank you Paul and Ruthanne! :-) All in all I feel the day was a total success with everyone truly enjoying themselves. (Didn’t hurt that the sun came out to warm us all up)

Our next full day ride is on June 21st to Mt Baker and it too will be an awesome ride so hopefully those who missed out on this past ride will be able to make it then. Thanks to everyone who showed up and remember……..”Keep the rubber on the road and the wind in your face”

Moday Ride – May 26th

Group Ride May 26 2008

We had a great ride last-night; thanks Jim for leading. Jim lead us through the back streets of Langley to… um err ahh… not sure exactly where we went as there were too many twisties. But we did end up at Tim’s at the Abbotsford Auto-mall.

There is only one picture for the ride. Thanks again to Jim for bringing his camera.

Oh yeah, yes that is Jeff in MC gear and yes he has a new ride. A very sweet Triumph that he let me take for a spin. I am just a bit jealous.

If you missed the ride on Saturday May 24 along the Chuckanut, you missed a memorable one. It was amazing. Thanks again to Paul and Ruth Anne who picked up the coffee tab after the ride.

Regards, Eric

SATURDAY MAY 24 RIDE

posted by HarleyRider

Greetings all,

Just a freindly reminder that tomorrows ride will be heading into the USA so please be sure to have proper ID with you in order to cross the border.  We will be leaving Tim Horton’s at 8:00 Am SHARP in order to beat the traffic crossing into the states so please be sure to arrive a bit early with a full tank of fuel and ready to go.  It is also a good idea to have some out of country medical insurance as well as we are heading into another country.  If all goes according to plan we should be back home around 4:00 Pm so be prepared to be gone for the better part of the day.

See you all tomorrow.
