At our “Kick off Pot-Luck dinner” on April 10th, Grayden introduced us to the “Turn on the Tap” project which is run by Samaritan’s Purse. The goal for Samaritan’s Purse is to install BioSand Filters in homes throughout the developing world.

To support this very important effort, Peace Portal Riders is planning a ride on Sept. 11.
An excellent video from CBC news report on the BioSand Water Filter Program is available here on the Samaritan’s Purse website.

Also, there is some other excellent information regarding the BioSand Filter Program on the Samaritan’s Purse website.

Fraser Canyon Ride – May 16th

posted by Eric

Its been quite a while since we have added to our blog, so I though I would get it started again.

We had an amazing ride up the canyon yesterday (May 16th), up to Lytton, over to Merritt, then back home. Bruce, again another fantastic ride! 13 bikes, perfect weather, lots of fun, what more could you ask for. I will add new images to the gallery as soon as I get them from “the camera guy”. For anyone else who took photos on this ride, if you have one or more great pic’s, then just send them onto me and I will gladly add it to the gallery.

On a side note, if anyone in our group wants to post stuff that is group related, send Bruce an email asking for a account, and we will set you up. Many people in our group already have accounts and are able to post.

Cheers, Eric

Another Ride Up the Fraser Canyon

posted by Chris

To all that are interested,

Doug and I are planning on doing another ride up the Fraser Canyon this Sunday May 31.  Our intention is to ride up to Cache Creek through the Fraser Canyon on Hwy 1 and then over to Lillooet on Hwy 99 and down to Lytton on Hwy 12 and then head back home along Hwy 1.  We have not decided on a departure time but it will most likely be no later than 9:00 am.  Since I will be leaving from White Rock, anyone who is interested can meet me at our usual meeting spot at Tim Hortons.  When I have more information on our departure time I will post a comment.  If you are interested in joining us on this ride please leave a comment or send me an email (cerickson@equustek.com).  Below is a link to the proposed route that Doug and I will be taking.

Route Map:

Updated Gallery

posted by Eric

Jim took some awesome shots of the April 25 ride to Harrison and the show n shine at the church. I have added the pictures to the gallery page.

The ride to Harrison was amazing. If you missed it, you missed a great ride through the back roads and mountains around Chilliwack. We had about 14 bikes out. Yeah it was a bit chilly but we were able to dodge most of the rain drops, seeing about 5 to 10 minutes of wet roads for the entire ride. Bruce performed his usual magic and took us along an amazing ride. Some day I am going to have to bring a GPS and map it on Google maps.

The show n shine was a great success as you can see with the photos. It was great to see a few new bikes out.

Christmas In July – Bike Rally

posted by Eric

Wagner Hills Farm and The King’s Riders are putting on a bike rally on July 25th with early registration on July 10th.  Included is the poster for the Rally (click on the image to get the full poster with details).  The Rally is to support the fight against addictions.

I personally have a connection with Wagner Hills as a friend of mine went there to seek treatment.  They provide an awesome ministry that we need to support.  For more information regarding the Ministry, check out their website.

Had an Awesome Ride this Sunday

posted by Eric

Bruce took us on another amazing back road ride through Langley into Abbostsford then across into Mission. There were about 10 bikes. We started from the church and headed along the southern part of Langley on zero avenue. Half the time I was lost, but Bruce (I am no longer allowed to call him Bruce Almighty) knows all the best back roads! We came back across the Albion Ferry and ended the ride on the Langley side.

Way to go Bruce, I am really looking forward to this season!

Bikes for Sale

posted by Dave C

Hey folks,

After two seasons of fine bike-riding we have attained an excellent comfort level on our existing bikes and are looking to upgrade. If you know of anyone looking for a second-hand bike, Steph and I are putting ours up for sale. They have seen a lot of highway miles – not just the junket to the corner store and back.

Sunday Ride to Princeton

posted by Chris

Hey everyone,

Doug and I are planning on doing a ride this Sunday to Princeton, weather permitting of course. Our plan as of this moment is to ride up to Princeton, grab a bite to eat for lunch, and then head back home. Since the weather is getting colder we are planning to leave a little later than the usual 8:00 am departure time so that we are not too cold at the start. If anyone is interested in joining us please send me an email (cerickson@equustek.com) or reply to this post so we know who is possibly coming.

Chris
